“Asphyxia” to appear in Chiral Mad 5 Anthology. What Does Chiral Mean?

This anthology is special in a myriad of ways. It’s a reflection of the anger and strife in our time, the clamoring from those tired of an oppressive system ready for a new start, the end of an era and the beginning of another. The term chirality comes from a concept in chemistry where if any ion or molecule cannot be superimposed on onto itself, through any number of rotations or translations, then it is chiral; like when you flip one hand over top the other and so forth, it will never be the same. The end is the beginning and the beginning is the end.

So it goes for the intersection of history we find ourselves in, this is more than a book, but a statement, a single breath we are taking together.

The caliber of poets and writers assembled here is overwhelming, and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to share this anthology with so many unique, powerful, and beautiful voices. Also, I wanted to give yet another shout out to Linda Addison, as this is going to be the first table of contents we are sharing together and I’m overflowing with happiness!

My prose poem Asphyxia is slated to appear in this latest anthology from Written Backwards edited by Michael Bailey, titled Chiral Mad 5.

The book is over 50% funded, so please consider supporting this project. All proceeds go to benefit the Black Lives Matter Movement.
