I’ve always been nervous about reading my own poetry, and I know that has to change at some point. Though, when my friend Angela Yuriko Smith asked me to read my poem for her online show SPILLING THE INK you can sure bet, yes, I was just as hesitant.

Back in 2018 when my now Rhysling Award nominated poem Crimson Faces was published Angela’s husband, Ryan Smith produced an audio recording with him narrating the poem. The way he read every word, emphasized every breath, it was beautiful.

Naturally, I asked Angela if Ryan had the time to produce a similar version for The Gates of Katharion (Weird Tales #366, 2022) and well, without further explanation I’m pleased to share with you the finished product

The Gates of Katharion.

I was recently interviewed by the Columbus Jewish News where I talk about writing, my connections to Judaism and my new story ‘Black Screams, Yellow Stars’ which will be published in the HWA anthology ‘Other Terrors: An Inclusive Anthology’ from Mariner Books edited by Vince Liaguno and Rena Mason!

(See link to interview in comments!)

I had the opportunity to sit down with Bram Stoker Award nominated author and editor of the HWA Poetry blog, David E. Cowen the other day and speak a little about the mechanics of prose poetry, the reason or unreason of the Cyber Gods and where it all fits into the subgenre of Weird Poetry.

You can read the full interview here. It was quite a rewarding exercise being able to talk about the how and why of my prose style.

I’m beginning to post a little more frequently here and will have a longer update coming soon talking about an anthology I’m currently editing (the Kickstarter is live and you can learn more here), some poetry that is forthcoming in Strange Horizons as well as an amazing book from Hex Publishers that I’m thrilled to have a piece in.
