I can’t believe January has already almost come and gone. There’s so much to do, but I wanted to take a few minutes and update everyone with some of my upcoming writing appearances.

The Winter Edition of Spectral Realms No. 16 has been released from Hippocampus Press which includes contributions from Christina Sng, Wade German, Ann K. Schwader, Frank Coffman, and a host of familiar faces. The cover was designed by Dan Sauer which features the artwork A Witches’ Sabbath by Cornelis Saftleven, c. 1650.

I will have three prose poems in this issue, ‘The Great Parade,’ ‘The Beast with a Billion Stomachs,’ and ‘The City of Dreams.’

I’m particularly fond of the last piece due to the fact I tend to write a lot of my poetry as if I were dreaming in cities, landscapes and other metallic-scapes.

Next up is the Spring 2022 issue of the award winning publication The Horror Zine edited be Jeani Rector. This issue will feature three of my poems, ‘The Näigöth Waits,’Where No One Goes,’ and ‘Chthonic Dreams.’

As the year draws to a close I’m looking forward to taking some time off work and dedicate a chunk of time to writing and tightening up a few projects. Assuming things continue to go as planned I will, fingers crossed, have another book of prose poems published in early 2022 (more on that later).

In the meantime, I have a few announcements. There is a new anthology coming out titled A Walk in a City of Shadows: Tales of Urban Legendry edited by Sarah Walker, Phil Breach, and Gordon B. White. Dan Sauer has done it again with some absolutely stunning cover artwork!

I will have two prose poems in this anthology, ‘Down Walhalla Road’ and ‘Bloody, Meaty Ends’ both poems about legends centered around Ohio urban folklore. Being born and raised in Ohio it was fun researching and exploring some of the stories even further.

Look for more information when the Kickstarter launches next year!

My prose poem Orgulous Wrath is slated to appear in an upcoming issue of House of Stitched Magazine.

Also, coming next year will be the HWA anthology Other Terrors: An Inclusive Anthology from Mariner Books edited by Rena Mason and Vince Liaguno! I’m thrilled to have my story Black Screams, Yellow Stars appear in this powerful compendium showcasing the bitter truths and dark fears of otherness.

Mine is a short, but intense story, and it remains to this day of the hardest stories I’ve ever written.

Also coming in 2022 is another extremely powerful anthology, Chiral Mad 5 edited by the incredible Michael Bailey. I’ve been looking forward to this book for a year now and can’t wait! From Linda Addison to Sheree Renee Thomas to Jonathan Lees and Gary Braunbeck and so so much more…

I will have two prose poems in this anthology:

-Black Robes, Red Masks, and White Oblivions

Asphyxia

There will also be appearances in Spectral Realms, Lovecraftiana Magazine, Weirdbook Magazine, another project with Crystal Lake Publishing coming up next year and more!

I had the opportunity to sit down with Bram Stoker Award nominated author and editor of the HWA Poetry blog, David E. Cowen the other day and speak a little about the mechanics of prose poetry, the reason or unreason of the Cyber Gods and where it all fits into the subgenre of Weird Poetry.

You can read the full interview here. It was quite a rewarding exercise being able to talk about the how and why of my prose style.

I’m beginning to post a little more frequently here and will have a longer update coming soon talking about an anthology I’m currently editing (the Kickstarter is live and you can learn more here), some poetry that is forthcoming in Strange Horizons as well as an amazing book from Hex Publishers that I’m thrilled to have a piece in.
